Blog Post #4 - Ninety Second Gospel - April 1, 2022

Hi! Welcome back! How did last week’s challenge go? Did you learn new information from the True and False Conversion message? Isn’t it heartbreaking to think that so many people believe that just because they prayed a prayer one time that they will go to heaven when they die even though they didn’t actually turn from their sin and they don’t actively love or obey Jesus? Can you imagine their horror when the Lord casts them away? This makes my heart swell with Jesus’s compassion and a sense of urgency. Let’s reach out to those around us with boldness and love.

I have found it extremely useful to know how to present the gospel in 90 seconds because sometimes that is all the time you have with someone. Could you do that? What if the person you were having a conversation with had to leave in a minute because their bus was approaching? Or more dramatically, what if someone had been struck by a car and was dying along the side of the road? Could you be of any eternal value to them? I know that until I really practiced this skill I had no idea how to concisely communicate what I believed with someone else. There have been numerous occasions where I’ve listened attentively to what someone else believes and then I’ve asked them if I might share what I believe. This has been very effective.

Watch below to see a few people give the gospel in 60-90 seconds. Notice how they each use different words but communicate the same information. And just so you know, I have practiced many times doing this and even so it still took me quite a few takes to communicate effectively for the video today. But regular PRACTICE will make PERMANENT!

Practice preaching the gospel to yourself in 60-90 seconds each day this week! That is the challenge! What are the important facts to communicate? God’s holiness, our sin, God’s perfect provision of a Savior, His death on a cross, His resurrection, and His promise of forgiveness and eternal life… Can you think of anything I’m missing? Feel the freedom to copy and memorize the way someone else has said it, or say it in your own words!! Send me a video of your gospel message if you can- I’d love to hear it! And as always, please like, share, and leave a comment to let me know you were here!

Grace and peace,

Mary
